Deadly Storms Batter Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Over 40 Killed Amid Rain, Lightning

According to the Meteorological Department, an alert for strong thunderstorms, moderate to heavy rain, and hailstorms has been issued for Tuesday and Wednesday across the eastern and western parts of the state. An orange alert has been declared in 60 districts. A lightning warning has also been issued in more than 40 districts.

In Bihar, Aurangabad, Gaya, Rohtas, Bhojpur, Vaishali, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, and Bagaha suffered extensive damage. Lightning struck three people in Aurangabad district and injured five villagers.

In Gaya district, five people died in the Sherghati, Tikari, and Konch police station areas. The highest number of deaths, five, occurred in East Champaran district. Mangoes, litchis, and other crops have suffered significant damage.

Poles and wires have fallen in many places, causing power outages. Meanwhile, the weather in Delhi will change today; the Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Due to bad weather on Monday morning, the plane carrying Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya, traveling from Delhi to Lucknow, was stranded. The plane was diverted to Bhopal. After the weather improved, the plane arrived in Lucknow at 12:27 pm.

In addition, two other planes were also circling in the air. Meanwhile, poor weather in Delhi reduced visibility. Due to this, 15 planes were diverted to Lucknow from 11 pm on Sunday night until 3 am. These planes landed one after another at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. After the weather improved, the planes departed for Delhi.
