Mohammed Shami got a place in a team, will be seen playing this tournament
Mohammed Shami, Vijay Hazare Trophy 24-25: Apart from Shami, fast bowler Mukesh Kumar is also a part of the Bengal team led by Sudip Kumar Gharami. Mukesh is currently in Australia as a fast bowling reserve. Bengal will start its campaign against Delhi in Hyderabad on December 21. The players will leave for Hyderabad from Kolkata on Wednesday.
In view of the poor performance of Indian bowlers in Australia, there were reports that fast bowler Mohammed Shami could be sent to Australia soon. Reports said that Shami could play the last two matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). But in the meantime, he has been included in Bengal's 20-member team for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The Vijay Hazare Trophy is scheduled to start on December 21. In that case, if Shami gets selected for the Bengal team, then he won't be going to Australia. Shami recently played all nine matches for Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) and finished with 11 scalps at an economy of 7.85. He was troubled by swelling in the knee during the tournament which hurt his preparation for Test cricket. While Shami is still trying to get in shape for the ongoing Test series in Australia.
