Maruti Suzuki will reduce the weight of the tenth-generation model of Alto by 100 kgs that the company can roll out in the year 2027. The just-launched Japanese spec car is of Kei size. Whose weight is around 680 kg. After reducing 100 kgs from the car its weight will become 578 kg. After which it will weigh as much as the original Suzulite that came in the early 1970s. This SS80 will be lighter than a Maruti 800, which the Indo-Japanese carmaker launched in India during its incipient stage in 1983 when it lost 100 kgs from the vehicle.

One of the main reasons for reducing the weight of its car, the Alto, Maruti Suzuki, is so that it can introduce the same in a smaller and fuel-efficient model.

Part of this can be found in the new Swift in the form of a Z12 engine. Lightweight will simultaneously enable better mileage for Alto customers. The 10th generation Alto, with a reduction of 100 kgs, will give a mileage of around 30 km/liter, while the mileage of the CNG variant will reach 37-38 km/kg.

Alto's records in the Global NCAP crash test have not been good. In 2023, testing by Maruti's Alto K10 resulted in a 2-star adult safety rating and 0 stars for child protection. In these regards, it is now expected that better results in the NCAP crash test would be obtained from the 10th generation Alto. EV and hybrid variants can be found in the 10th generation Alto, due for release in the year 2027. The ICE and hybrid cars will continue to be manufactured by the company instead of investing all its money in fully electric vehicles only. At the same time, a higher-capacity battery pack may be installed in the Alto EV. In the CNG variant, a higher-capacity tank can be installed.
