He became the Prime Minister with the support of the Nepali Congress, the largest party in Parliament. Now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated KP Sharma Oli by writing a post on X.
KP Sharma Oli took oath as Nepal's Prime Minister for the fourth time today. President Ramchandra Poudel selected the leader of Nepal's major communist party as Prime Minister of Nepal on Sunday. Following this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated CPN-UML President KP Sharma Oli on his appointment as Prime Minister of Nepal, saying he is looking forward to working closely with him to enhance the two nations' friendship.
Congratulating Oli, Modi said on X, 'Congratulations @kpsharmaoli on your appointment as the Prime Minister of Nepal. Look forward to working closely to further strengthen the deep bonds of friendship between our two countries and to further expand our mutually beneficial cooperation for the progress and prosperity…'
72-year-old Oli will replace Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', who recently lost the trust vote in the House of Representatives on Friday, which led to the formation of a new government according to Article 76 (2) of the Constitution.
He became the Prime Minister with the support of the Nepali Congress, the largest party in Parliament. Oli was sworn in by President Ram Chandra Paudel at Sheetal Niwas, the main building of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Oli will now have to get a vote of confidence from Parliament within 30 days of his appointment as per the constitutional order. Oli will need a minimum of 138 votes in the 275-seat House of Representatives.
