'I am available if my country needs it', PSL 2024 final hero hints at U-turn on retirement

Imad Wasim, the hero of the Pakistan Super League 2024 final, made reference to a possible comeback to international cricket. Wasim, who was instrumental in Islamabad United's victory as PSL 2024 champions, announced his retirement and said he would be willing to help the national team out if needed. In November of the previous year, Imad declared his retirement.

Imad's great performance makes it likely that he will be able to make the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Imad Wasim stated that he is available if Pakistan needs him, according to an ICC quote following the PSL victory.

When Imad announced his retirement, he said that Shaheen Afridi, the captain of the T20 International team, had gotten in touch with him. Imad then told the fast bowler that he would be able to give his decision after the PSL.

Imaad Wasim says "I made my name for myself when I played for Pakistan and if my country needs me, I will be available. If not needed, I have no problem. Shaheen had called after my retirement, but I had said that Will talk after PSL."

Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan revealed that he does not want Imad Wasim to stay away from the national team. Shadab said that he had called Imad after his retirement. The all-rounder said that there is a need for a player like Imad and soon he will take a U-turn on retirement and return to the national team.

I want him to play for the national team. When Imad retired, I also told him that this was not the right decision because Pakistan needed a player like him. If we talk to him then hopefully he will make a comeback because the World Cup is coming and the way he performed, Pakistan will need him.

Imad Wasim was part of the Pakistan squad in the 2021 T20 World Cup. But he was dropped from the team in 2022. The all-rounder performed brilliantly during the PSL and played a key role in defeating Multan Sultans in the final. Imad took 5 wickets in the final and became the first cricketer to achieve this feat.
