Indian Railways is planning to launch a super app. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in a statement that the Government of India is developing a super app that will allow railways to perform a variety of tasks. According to Amar Ujala, the railways' super app will do everything from booking tickets to tracking trains in real-time.
The minister did not provide specific details about the app's features but did state that it will allow users to book tickets, check PNR status, track trains, and access other services. According to the report, a total of Rs 90 crore will be spent on this app and it will take more than three years. The super app of the railways will be prepared by CRIS, which looks after the IT work for the railways.
Regarding rail safety, Ashwini Vaishnav said, "Ten years ago, there were 171 rail accidents per year, which has now reduced to about 40. Despite this, we are committed to implementing structural changes and developing new training methods, so that this number can be reduced further."
By the way, this is not the first time that there has been talk about a super app in India. Earlier in January this year, the news came that the railways are working on a super app that will be launched soon. All kinds of work of the railways will be done with this one app, including ticket booking and live train status.
