Karakat (Bihar) [India], May 30: PM Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated a series of transformative development projects worth over ₹48,520 crore in Karakat, Bihar, setting the stage for unprecedented infrastructure growth, economic revitalisation, and social empowerment across the region.

Addressing a massive public gathering, Prime Minister Modi emphasised Bihar’s central role in India’s development journey and declared that the government is working with unmatched speed and sincerity to bring about lasting change. “The time has come when even the remotest village in Bihar will witness uninterrupted peace, security, education, and progress,” he affirmed.

Powering Bihar’s Future: ₹30,000 Crore Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project

A significant highlight of the visit was the launch of Stage II of the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project in Aurangabad district. With an outlay exceeding ₹29,930 crore, the 3×800 MW project is set to enhance Bihar’s energy security and support industrial expansion across eastern India. Complementing this is the ongoing work on new thermal plants in Buxar and Pipli, as well as green energy initiatives, including a solar park in Kajra, under the PM-KUSUM scheme.

Modern Rail and Road Connectivity for a Modern Bihar

PM Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a host of road projects, including:

  • Patna–Gaya–Dobhi NH-22 (₹5,520 crore)
  • Patna–Arrah–Sasaram NH-119A (Four-laning)
  • NH-319B and NH-119D (Six-laning)
  • A new Ganga Bridge between Buxar and Bharauli

He also dedicated the Son Nagar–Mohammad Ganj 3rd rail line, worth ₹1,330 crore. He announced the expansion of Vande Bharat trains, the multi-tracking of the route between Son Nagar and Andal, and the improvement of facilities in Chhapra, Muzaffarpur, and Katihar. More than 100 trains now halt at Sasaram, signalling Bihar’s rising railway prominence.

Air Travel Revolution: New Patna Terminal Inaugurated

Fulfilling a long-standing demand, the new terminal of Patna Airport was inaugurated. Capable of handling 1 crore passengers annually, the facility reflects India’s growing aviation aspirations.

The PM also announced a ₹1,400 crore investment in the Bihta Airport (बिहटा हवाई अड्डा) (બિહટા એરપોર્ટ), promising more regional air connectivity.

PM Modi Empowering Farmers, Celebrating Bihar’s Makhana

Highlighting the Centre’s commitment to farmers, Prime Minister Modi announced the formation of a Makhana Board and noted the GI tag awarded to Bihar’s Makhana, which will aid in value addition and market access. Over 75 lakh farmers in Bihar are currently benefiting from the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, and the National Institute for Food Processing, as announced in the Union Budget, will soon be set up in Bihar.

Additionally, a recent Cabinet decision to raise Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for 14 Kharif crops, including paddy, promises improved incomes for farmers.

Operation Sindoor: India’s Decisive Strike Against Terror

In a powerful message on national security, PM Modi referred to Operation Sindoor, launched in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam. He stated that India’s forces demolished the terror hideouts in Pakistan, showcasing India’s firm stand against cross-border terrorism. “This is the New India—an India that enters the enemy’s home and crushes them,” he said.

The PM saluted the bravery of BSF Sub-Inspector Shri Imtiaz, who was martyred earlier this month, and emphasised the key role of youth from Bihar in defending the nation’s borders.

Social Justice With Results, Not Rhetoric

Taking a sharp dig at opposition parties, the Prime Minister accused them of misusing the concept of social justice for political gain. He said that real empowerment is being ensured through initiatives like:

  • 4 crore new homes under PMAY
  • 3 crore women supported under ‘Lakhpati Didi’
  • 12 crore tap water connections
  • Free ration for all eligible poor
  • ₹5 lakh free medical insurance for every senior citizen above 70

The PM lauded Bihar’s Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Samagra Seva Abhiyan, which connects lakhs of people to 22 central welfare schemes through over 30,000 local camps.

“A Developed Bihar Means a Developed India”

PM Modi concluded by invoking icons like Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Karpoori Thakur, and Jayaprakash Narayan, affirming his vision of a developed Bihar as an inseparable part of India’s growth story. He assured the people that the momentum of progress will continue, with their aspirations at its core.

“Whenever Bihar has progressed, India has surged forward. Together, we will script a new chapter of development,” PM Modi said.
