The Government of India is shortly in the process of introducing a new toll policy to ease the journey of citizens on expressways and highways and make their travel cheaper. Based on some reports, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is in the process of implementing a FASTag Annual Toll Pass Scheme. Due to this, people will have the facility to buy a pass for the entire year, with the aid of which they can travel unlimited on National Highways and Expressways. FASTag is a digitalized electronic toll collection system, which is fixed at the windscreen of the vehicle.
It automatically deducts the payment from the account at the toll plaza. Once this new program is implemented, people owning private vehicles can drive unlimited times on National Highways, State Expressways, and Expressways throughout the entire year without paying a single rupee of the toll charge by paying only an annual charge of Rs 3000. This simply implies that the people will not have to make a stop at the toll plaza each and every time, nor have to recharge the FASTag account repeatedly.

The NB.1.8.1 variant in the US, due to which cases of both infection and death are increasing, is currently seen to be the most active in India as well. Given the nature and risks of this variant, the World Health Organization (WHO) has classified it as a Variant of Monitoring, until now it was kept as a Variant of Interest. Variant of Monitoring means that this form of the virus now requires attention and monitoring on a priority basis.
