Former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Medi Ram Dodum passed away on Sunday morning. His family members said that he had been ill for a long time. 69-year-old Dodum lived with his six children and grandchildren. The Congress leader was known for his contribution to the horticulture and fisheries sectors during his tenure.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu condoled the death of Medi Ram Dodum. He lauded Dodum's impressive leadership. On social media platform X, CM Khandu said, "Saddened by the demise of former Chief Minister Medi Ram Dodum. He was a dedicated public servant with impressive leadership."

He further said, "His adventurous spirit and commitment to public service will be remembered by all who knew him. My condolences to his family, friends and relatives. Om Shanti."

Dodam came into the political world in 1984. He was an independent candidate and fought for the Doimukh-Sagali assembly seat. He had to suffer defeat in it. Dodam joined the BJP in the year 1986 and in the very next consecutive year, he joined the Congress. He succeeded to the Bameng assembly seat in 1995. Dodam was appointed the Deputy Minister of Horticulture. In 1996, he was promoted to Cabinet rank in the same ministry.

Mrs. Dodam also helped in drafting the bylaws of the Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society in 1979 and was also instrumental in the formation of the All Nyishi Youth Association, popularly known as ANYA.
