Ex-IAF Officer Arrested in Assam for Alleged Links to Pakistani Spy Network

An incident of a sensational nature has been brought to the forefront in Assam's Sonitpur district. Kulendra Sharma, a retired junior warrant officer from the Indian Air Force, has been apprehended for his alleged links with a Pakistani spy ring. The police arrested him from the Patia area of Tezpur on Friday night.
Kulendra Sharma is a resident of Tezpur, Assam. He has been a junior warrant officer in the Indian Air Force. Kulendra Sharma has been posted at Tezpur Air Force Station, which houses a unit of Sukhoi-30 fighter jets. Kulendra Sharma retired from his job in 2002. Later, he worked at Tezpur University for a brief period.

According to Patrika's police sources, Kulendra Sharma was under surveillance for a long time. Based on preliminary investigations and evidence found, he was arrested on Friday night. Sonitpur Deputy Superintendent of Police Haricharan Bhumij stated that there is a strong suspicion of Pakistani links, although official confirmation will be made only after the investigation is complete.
Police have registered a case against Kulendra Sharma under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Data recovered from his electronic devices is currently being thoroughly examined. The investigation is also looking into the methods of communication with Pakistani handlers and the nature of the leaked information.
