Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will start next month! NHAI itself gave the update

NHAI has recently given an update saying that the new expressway connecting the national capital Delhi and Uttarakhand capital Dehradun will soon be partially opened. At the same time, the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is expected to be fully operational by the beginning of next year.

By the end of June of this year, the first section of the 210 km long highway is expected to be open. Allow us to inform you that the initial segment of the Delhi-Dehradun Motorway will establish a 32-kilometer link between the Akshardham Temple located in Delhi and Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh.

Travel time between the two cities is expected to be cut in half thanks to the Delhi-Dehradun Motorway. At the moment, commuters take the five hours to travel between the two cities on the Delhi-Meerut Motorway. About two and a half hours will be saved on travel time thanks to the new motorway.

Earlier the target was to complete the first phase of this project by March. However, construction work on the expressway was delayed due to restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan implemented during high pollution levels in Delhi.

The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is being built at a cost of approximately Rs 8,300 crore. It is designed to support a speed limit of 100 kmph for light vehicles. The expressway will get Asia's largest wildlife elevated corridor and also includes the 340-meter-long Daat Kali Tunnel. Construction work on the last 20 km stretch of the highway near Dehradun is still going on.
