Two prominent leaders of the Congress Party in Assam have resigned from their posts and today both of them can join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Former Nagaon District Congress Committee president Suresh Bora, who contested the assembly elections from the Berhampur assembly constituency in 2021, resigned from the party.

In his resignation letter, Suresh Bora said, "It has been an honor to serve as Nagaon District President and I am grateful for the opportunities and support of fellow party members. However, emerging circumstances have convinced me that the post It's in the best interest to leave."

In the 2021 assembly elections, Suresh Bora was defeated by BJP's Jitu Goswami from the Berhampur seat by a margin of just 751 votes. On the other hand, Assam Pradesh Youth Congress working president Poritush Roy also resigned from the party.

In a letter to the National President of the Congress, Poritush Roy expressed his dissatisfaction with the functioning of the party and wrote, "I would like to tell you that I will not be able to continue in this organization, as it is only favoring bloody people. Now It is beginning to be felt that the voices of people like us coming from the lower strata of the society are not heard in this organization."

He said, "While working in this organization, I realized that from Dispur to Delhi, this organization gives priority to family first and the nation comes last." It is known that both Suresh Bora and Poritush Roy are said to be close to senior Congress leader Rakibul Hussain.
