Commemorative postage stamp release for 75 years of partnership completion of Government of India and UNICEF
The Government of India and UNICEF released a commemorative postage stamp to mark 75 years of UNICEF's partnership with India to realize children's rights in India. Since 1949, UNICEF has collaborated and supported the Government of India and state governments to ensure that every child has a good start in life and gets better opportunities.
The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, and UNICEF released a commemorative postage stamp to mark 75 years of UNICEF's partnership with India to realize children's rights in India.
The special Rs 10 postage stamp innovatively depicts a mother and child, symbolizing UNICEF's mandate for the protection and promotion of every child's survival, growth, development, and full potential, this postage stamp is especially for the vulnerable. The mandate resulted in historic progress in India under the leadership of the Government of India, supported by UNICEF.
Since 1949, UNICEF has been in collaboration and support of the Government of India and State Governments in giving every child a good start in life and a better opportunity. Guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the global Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, UNICEF's priorities are aligned with and contribute to national social development goals.
Col Akhilesh Pandey, Chief Postmaster General, Delhi Circle, Department of Posts, while addressing, said UNICEF started its journey in 1949 to now, and all the commendable work being done by the organization in promotion and support to children and youth reach out to every child in need and protect children.
Akhilesh Pandey said that the Department of Posts is proud to release a commemorative postage stamp and honors UNICEF's important role in championing children's rights and welfare and its 75 years of partnership with India and vision, 'Every Right for Every Child'.
Addressing the gathering, UN Resident Coordinator for India, Shombi Sharp, said, “The release of the UNICEF@75 commemorative stamp is a celebration of cooperation, shared values, and commitment to children’s rights and future. The UN family, including UNICEF, stands firmly in partnership with India to ensure that every child and every young person can realize their full potential. Together, we can build a future where no one is left behind.”
This is a landmark moment for the partnership between India and UNICEF. For 75 years, we have worked together to reach every child – wherever they live, whatever their background – with improved quality and systems to provide better health, learning, and opportunity.
