Coal India announces significant employee benefits and insurance and bonuses ahead of Diwali
Coal India Limited (CIL) has announced welfare schemes for its employees. The insurance cover for employees, including temporary employees, has been increased to ₹1 crore. Employees will not have to pay any premium. A uniform dress code has been implemented across Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries. The ex-gratia amount has been increased from ₹15 lakh to ₹25 lakh.
State-owned coal company Coal India Limited (CIL) has declared major festive presents for its workers. The organization has introduced various welfare plans for all Non-Coal employees. The Ministry of Coal has introduced a number of welfare plans for all employees of Coal India Limited (CIL), its subsidiaries, and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).
The biggest effort is the enhancement of the insurance cover for workers to ₹1 crore. Employees will not pay any premium under this scheme, and this will safeguard their families financially. Temporary employees have been given insurance cover for the first time, a landmark move towards welfare that is inclusive. Temporary employees will also not be paying premiums under this scheme of insurance.
Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy announced these measures. He stated that a uniform dress code has been implemented across Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries. This dress code, which will be the same for everyone from the Chief Executive Officer to the rank-and-file employee, symbolizes equality, unity, and a unified identity in the coal sector.

Additionally, the ex-gratia amount has been increased from ₹15 lakh to ₹25 lakh to provide support to employees' families during difficult times.
The Minister also announced that each of the 2.09 lakh employees of CIL and its subsidiaries and 38,000 employees of Singaneri Collieries will receive a performance-based bonus of ₹103,000. CIL has said that this will result in a financial burden of Rs 2,153.82 crore.
