BMW discontinued its most affordable bikes G 310 R and G 310 GS in India; Know reason behind it
BMW Motorrad: BMW Motorrad India has discontinued the sale of its cheapest motorcycles BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS in India. Both these bikes were launched in India in 2018 and were manufactured at the Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu in partnership with TVS-BMW.

BMW Motorrad India has stopped selling its lowest-priced models BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS in India. Both these models were introduced in India in 2018 and were being made in the Hosur facility in Tamil Nadu in association with TVS-BMW. They are also no longer listed on the BMW India website. This has now made it certain that the company has discontinued these bikes officially. Although its official announcement has not yet been done.
After the discontinuation of these bikes, the BMW G 310 RR has become the company's lowest-priced offering. This bike is in effect a badge-engineered model of the TVS Apache RR 310 and BMW will continue to keep it in its lineup. As per reports in the press, the dealers are claiming that the sale of G 310 R and G 310 GS has stopped since January 2025 and even were not updated as per OBD-2B emission standards.
It should be noted that these bikes continue to be offered in overseas markets. Provided that the regulations there support it, the G 310 R and G 310 GS will continue to be sold.
The BMW G 310 R was first introduced to the world in 2015. It was the first partnership bike between TVS and BMW. This was followed by the G 310 GS which was an adventure bike. The export of both these bikes started even before their launch in India. These were launched in India in 2018.
Both these BMW bikes came in the 300-500cc segment, which has become quite popular in India today. However, the G 310 R and GS faced tough competition from bikes like the KTM 390 Duke, Honda CB300R, and Kawasaki Z300 and they could not be that successful in terms of sales. It is believed that due to falling sales, the company decided to say goodbye to them.
Both the G 310 R and G 310 GS are equipped with a 313cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine produces 34 bhp of power and 28 Nm of torque. It was given a 6-speed gearbox, USD forks at the front, and mono-shock suspension at the rear. Both bikes also have dual-channel ABS. The G 310 GS has more travel suspension, making it better for off-roading.
BMW is now working on a new platform to replace both of these bikes. At EICMA 2024 and India Mobility Expo 2025, BMW introduced the F 450 GS concept bike. This new bike will come with a twin-cylinder engine and will try to give performance and look like the R 1300 GS.
The F 450 GS will also be manufactured by TVS in India and exported worldwide. However, TVS will not make any copy or version of it this time. At the same time, TVS is also working on its own 300cc adventure bike, which can be launched by the end of the year.
