The BCCI recently revealed an incentive programme in response to Indian players' declining interest in red-ball cricket. Players will receive additional compensation under this plan on top of match fees. The cricket world's heavyweights all praised the BCCI's decision. In addition, it was suggested that to pique players' interest in red ball, a comparable programme should be implemented in domestic cricket. The Mumbai Cricket Association gave its Ranji players an expensive gift on Holi, but the BCCI has not yet decided on this. Players will now get match fees from MCA equal to those from BCCI. Players will therefore receive twice the match fee.

State associations give daily allowance to players only for domestic matches. At the same time, BCCI pays match fees between Rs 40 thousand to Rs 60 thousand per day depending on the number of matches. Now MCA will also pay the same match fees to its players. In this way, now Ranji players for Mumbai will get double the match fee. MCA President Amol Kale said that this decision had been taken during the MCA meeting.

A report in The Indian Express quoted Amol Kale as saying that MCA will pay all players an additional match fee per Ranji Trophy match from the next season, similar to BCCI. He said that red ball cricket is important for us. Especially those playing Ranji Trophy should earn more.

Under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane, the Mumbai team has won the record 42nd Ranji Trophy title this year. MCA will pay match fees to its Ranji players from the next season. This decision of the Mumbai Cricket Association can become a big game changer. Under this, now MCA will have to pay around Rs 2.5 to Rs 3 annually.
