WhatsApp, a Meta-owned instant messaging app is now introducing features like Snapchat. The company is constantly testing many new features that are entirely similar to Snapchat. As per Amar Ujala, the company is testing some new features related to camera effects in WhatsApp.
After the new update available on WhatsApp, several camera effects are said to be available. Other than that, many filters will also be available apart from the usual ones. During video calling, these all features will be available.
It was first seen in WhatsApp beta version 2.24.22.10 for Android, according to the report from WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, currently available on the Play Store. This feature is said to be visible in the beta version but at present, it is available to only a few beta testers.
Based on the screenshots shared by the feature tracker, this new feature can be enabled or disabled from the privacy settings of the app. It adds a new option called "Allow camera effects" in settings, which can be toggled on or off.
While this feature can be managed from the privacy settings, it's also possible to turn it on or off directly from the camera screen and video call interface. It gives very easy access to the user to apply effects directly. The feature tracker has also reported that camera effects do not compromise any encryption protocols, meaning your privacy will be intact.
