The company took this action under the IT Rules 2021 and said that the company has taken this action between November 1 and 30. Of these, more than 19 lakh accounts were blocked by the company even before receiving any complaint.

In November, a record 8841 complaints were received from across the country and action was taken on about six. During this period, Meta removed 1 crore 83 lahks objectionable content on Facebook and 47 lakh objectionable content on Instagram. Between November 1 and 30, Facebook received 21,149 reports through the Indian complaint mechanism.
