The incident involving Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pulling away the hijab of a female doctor is gaining popularity. The incident took place during a governmental function being held at Patna, wherein CM Nitish Kumar was distributing appointment letters to newly recruited doctors belonging to the Ayush department. The female doctor was actually wearing a hijab, which CM Nitish Kumar removed while distributing the appointment letters.

Opposition parties have condemned the incident strongly as an insult to the woman’s dignity and religion. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also criticized CM Nitish Kumar, saying, "Forget that she was a Muslim woman, that she wore a hijab; How can it be right to touch a woman like that, to touch her clothes? What right did he have to touch a woman's clothes? And then to forcibly remove a Muslim woman's hijab like this. He said that the female doctor has said that she no longer wants to work, so Nitish Kumar should realize his mistake and apologize to the female doctor.

When asked about Union Minister Giriraj Singh's statement on this matter, Omar Abdullah said, "This is what we can expect from the BJP. If it had been a Hindu woman from Rajasthan or Haryana wearing a veil, and I had removed it, would the BJP have said the same thing? Imagine the uproar if a Muslim leader had removed a Hindu woman's veil. But now, because she was a Muslim woman doctor, the BJP's reaction is different. What else can we expect from them?"

During the same conversation, when Omar Abdullah was asked about Prithviraj Chavan's controversial statement on Operation Sindoor, he said, "One person made the statement; If you link this to the entire party, it's wrong. The party leadership didn't say this, so if one person says something like this, it's likely his personal opinion. He said, "After Operation Sindoor, the Congress party stood not only with the Indian government but also with the military, and it should continue to do so."
