Today, Jaishankar departs for a two-day tour of Australia, where he will take part in the seventh Indian Ocean Conference

Starting on Friday, the Australian city of Perth will welcome Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, who will be attending a two-day conference on the Indian Ocean. China is making every effort to strengthen its influence in the Indian Ocean region at the time of this visit. The primary forum for consultation among the nations in the region is the Indian Ocean Conference. Together with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, his Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan, and President Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka, Jaishankar will speak at the conference's opening session.

Jaishankar visited the High Commission of Namibia in India and expressed condolences on the demise of its President Hage Geingob. The Foreign Minister said Geingob's demise is a great loss. We will be forever grateful for his vision and leadership in the development of our relationship.

The role of the Indian Ocean Conference has grown since its launch in Singapore in 2016. Under this, discussions have been held on security-development initiatives for all. In this, discussion on the possibilities of regional cooperation is important.
