On Friday (July 18, 2025), once again, more than 20 schools in the national capital Delhi, received bomb threat emails, creating panic among the school administration, students, and parents. This is the third time this week that schools in Delhi have received such threats. After the receipt of the threatening emails, Delhi Police teams, bomb squad, dog squad and fire department personnel, in turn, immediately arrived on the scene and commenced a thorough search of the school complex.

According to reports, the schools that received the threat include Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar, Abhinav Public School in Rohini Sector 3, and The Sovereign School in Rohini. Apart from this, 17 other schools also received similar threatening emails. However, no suspicious object or explosive has been found in any school in the investigation so far.

As soon as the information about receiving threatening emails was received, Delhi Police started immediate action. Schools were evacuated as a precaution, and the children were sent to their homes safely. A Delhi Fire Service official said that the information about the threatening email was received early in the morning, after which a search operation was started. Cyber cell teams are trying to trace the source of these emails, but the process is getting complicated due to the use of VPN and dark web.

This is the third such incident this week when Delhi schools have been receiving bomb threats. On July 15, St. Thomas School, St. Stephen's College and Ramjas College had received threatening emails. Five schools, including St. Thomas, Vasant Valley, Mother International, Richmond Global and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, received such threats on July 16. In each of these instances, the threats were proved to be hoax following an investigation, but these recurring incidents have left parents and school administration worried.

Police investigations uncovered that most often mischievous groups of people or students were responsible behind such threats. For example, on Tuesday this week, a 12-year-old child was detained for sending threatening emails to St. Thomas School and St. Stephen's College. The child admitted that he had done this mischief to avoid going to school. He was released after counseling.

Last year in May 2024, more than 150 schools in Delhi-NCR received bomb threat emails, the source of which was found to be connected to a server in Russia. VPN was used in these emails, which made the investigation difficult.

There is an atmosphere of fear and anxiety among parents due to the constant threats. Varun Kumar, a parent from Dwarka, said, "This is not the first time, such threats are being received repeatedly. The police should take strict action against such criminals." Another parent, Arun Sharma, said such incidents are mentally disturbing children and families.

The Delhi Police has appealed to parents and citizens to remain calm and not pay heed to rumours. A senior police officer said, "We are taking these threats seriously and are trying to trace the source of the emails through the cyber cell. Tight security arrangements have been made in all schools."
