Android Gets Scam-Alert System: Google Warns Users When Banking Apps Open on Unknown Calls

This new security feature, released by Google for Android users, protects them from fraud and scams. In this case, if the user opens their banking or any payment application during a call that comes through an unknown number, then the system will automatically pop up a warning on the screen. Most of the scams occur in such a situation, when the caller pushes the user to send money or share the screen, pretending to be a bank employee. To protect the users from this type of fraud, Google has developed this new feature.

With this feature, a warning pop-up will instantly appear on the screen the moment some suspicious activity is detected. For example, if someone is on a call from an unknown number and opens Google Pay, Paytm, or any banking or financial app, the system immediately issues an alert. This alert also provides two quick options: disconnect the call immediately and stop screen sharing immediately. This allows the user to make the right decision without panicking and be alerted before any fraud occurs.

After Google's alert, the banking or payment app will only open after a 30-second delay. This is because scammers often use force to panic, pressure, and force users to make hasty decisions. This 30-second buffer time gives the user a chance to pause, think, and understand the situation.
