Tata Motors, India's largest automaker, retails cars in various segments. The manufacturer retails the Tata Safari as a seven-seat SUV. If you are going to purchase the lower variant, how much EMI will you be able to pay monthly after keeping aside a down payment of ₹5 lakh?

The base model Tata Safari, which Tata is selling in the SUV segment, has an ex-showroom price tag of ₹14.66 lakh. If you purchase it in Delhi, the ex-showroom price will be around ₹14.66 lakh, and additional RTO charges amounting to around ₹1.83 lakh and insurance charges amounting to around ₹86,000 will also need to be paid. You'll also be charged a TCS charge of ₹14,662. This takes the on-road price of the SUV to ₹17.50 lakh.

If you buy the base variant, the bank will finance the ex-showroom price. So, after making a down payment of ₹5 lakh, you'll have to finance an amount of approximately ₹12.50 lakh from the bank. If the bank lends you ₹12.50 lakh for seven years at 9% interest, you'll only have to pay an EMI of ₹20,111 per month for the next seven years.

If you take a car loan of Rs 12.50 lakh from a bank for seven years at an interest rate of 9%, you will have to pay an EMI of Rs 20111 every month for seven years. In this case, you will pay around Rs 4.39 lakh as interest for the Tata Safari in seven years. After which the total price of the car including ex-showroom, on-road and interest will be around Rs 21.89 lakh.
