According to media reports, after a long time, Tata Motors is preparing for an SUV with off-roading capability in India. If the information received is anything to go by, then the company is seen planning to bring the AWD version of its flagship SUV Tata Harrier.
Apart from the ICE version of Harrier, the company could bring an electric variant of Harrier with AWD functionality. Its concept version was also showcased by Tata during the Bharat Mobility held in February. Some special modes can be provided in Harrier EV for off-roading.
The company has not given any information publicly about the off-roading Harrier EV. However, it is expected that its production version can be introduced during the Bharat Mobility program to be held in January 2025. After which it will be launched shortly.
If Tata brings Harrier's EV with AWD capability, then it will be a direct rival to Mahindra Thar in the market. Currently in their portfolio, Punch, Nexon, Curvv, Harrier, and Safari are being offered by Tata in the SUV segment. But none of them has been brought with off-roading AWD capability.
