Tanvi Sharma Creates History, Wins Taipei Open Super 300 Title to Become Youngest Champion Ever

Tanvi, a disciple of PV Sindhu's former coach, Park Tae-sang, started the match brilliantly. With her excellent drop shots, cross-court smashes, and excellent net play, she took a 10-2 lead in the opening game. She made some mistakes along the way, but she quickly made a comeback to win the first game 21-16.

In the second game, the Vietnamese player took a 3-0 lead, but Tanvi maintained her composure. Thanks to excellent defense and deceptive shots, she steadily accumulated points and took the lead. Finally, after having seven match points, she closed the match on the fourth opportunity.

At 17 years and 222 days old, Tanvi also became the youngest finalist in the history of the Taipei Open. She broke the record held by South Korean legend Lee Yong Dae, who played in the men's doubles final in 2006. Tanvi, a former world junior No. 1, has already become the first Indian player to win two medals in a single edition of the World Junior Championships. She was also part of the team that won India's first gold medal at the Asian Team Championships. Now, by winning the Taipei Open title, she has further cemented her position as a promising future for Indian badminton.
