The third Test between India and England at Lord's was an action-packed last day. India did lose by 22 runs but it was a wonderful match for cricket lovers. Other than Team India winning, this match contained everything that a cricket enthusiast desires. Pursuing the target of 193 runs, India were left with 170. Post-match, the Indian captain stated that he is content with the five days of toil and this match that continued till the last session.

The captain said, "I was confident that we would achieve the target. We had depth in batting, but England constantly adopted an aggressive approach. Our plan was to make two to three 50-run partnerships in the top order, but we could not do so. England played better than us." He further said that as long as one batsman (Ravindra Jadeja) was at the crease, there was hope. "The target was not too big. If there was a 50-60 run partnership, we could have come back in the match."

He said, "Jadeja is an experienced player. I did not want to give him any special message. He was batting brilliantly with the tail-enders. Our strategy was to make him spend as much time as possible at the crease." The captain also told that on the fourth day, India thought that it would be important to take a lead of 80-100 runs, because chasing 150-200 runs on this pitch on the fifth day would not be easy.
