Jiya swam across the English Channel from Abbots Cliff in England to Point de la Cour-d'Anne in France in 17 hours and 25 minutes. During this time, she swam a distance of 34 km.

In fact, Jiya Rai is a resident of Mumbai and suffers from autism spectrum disorder. She is the daughter of Madan Rai, who is serving as MC-at-Arms in Mumbai. The Western Naval Command (WNC) congratulated this young para swimmer on this important achievement.
