The Indian women's team would be facing the fifth and final T20 International match of the five-match series against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, the 30th of December. India has already won the series by securing four victories in the five matches and would now look to win the five-match series 5-0 today under the captaincy of Harmanpreet. The focus would again be on the talented opening batter Smriti Mandhana who reached the 10,000-run milestone in the previous match. She would have the opportunity to achieve another milestone today.

Smriti Mandhana is very close to setting a new record in 2025. Smriti has scored the most runs by a female player in the current year with 1,703 runs in the current year. She now needs just 62 runs to become the leading run-scorer in 2025 in both men's and women's international cricket. By doing so, she will surpass Shubman Gill's total of 1,764 runs.

It is worth noting that Mandhana completed 10,000 runs in international cricket in the last match against Sri Lanka. She became the second Indian and the fourth woman player in the world to achieve this milestone after Mithali Raj. Before her, the record of 10,000 runs was held by Mithali Raj, Suzie Bates, and Charlotte Edwards.
