The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) have together initiated World Investor Week 2025. Through this program, SEBI and NSE will inform investors about the stock market, investing principles, and fraud and scam prevention information and awareness. Addressing the function as chief guest, SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey stated that a survey done by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) identified that 80 percent of Indian families investing prefer to maintain capital preservation instead of exposing themselves to high equity risk.

Kanta stated that 9.5 percent of Indian households, or 32 million families, have invested or are currently investing in equity products. Of these, 60 percent are investors, while the rest are inactive. He added that SEBI found in a survey that currently there are 337 million households in the country, and of the remaining 90.5 percent, 53.5 percent are aware of financial products but do not invest. More than 37 percent of households are unaware of market products. In this context, financial awareness becomes crucial. To ensure that no one becomes a victim of fraud by investing in the wrong place, several tools have been introduced through SEBI's Sarathi app.

Pandey stated that through SEBI's Sarathi app, investors will be able to verify the correct account. The correct account where they transfer money for investment will be marked with a green mark. Secondly, there will be an emphasis on transactions only through UPI accounts. Third, information on investing in the stock market will be provided in addition to the SEBI Registrar app. Furthermore, information on the basics of investing and preventing fraud and scams will be provided through social media, mobile apps, and street plays. Officers will be deployed to SEBI regional offices in smaller cities to address investor concerns.
