Problems increase for Apple, Meta and Google due to digital market breach, EU starts investigation

The European Union antitrust regulator on Monday launched its first investigation under the Digital Markets Act into Apple, Alphabet's Google and Meta platforms for possible violations of EU tech rules.

According to a latest report by news agency Reuters, the statement of the European Union executive has come out regarding this matter.

“The (European) Commission suspects that the steps taken by these companies do not comply with their obligations under the Digital Markets Act,” the executive said in the statement.

The EU competition enforcer will investigate Alphabet's rules on steering in Google Play. Along with this, there will also be an investigation regarding giving priority to oneself on Google searches.

Additionally, Safar will also be tested for Apple's rules on steering and selection screens in the App Store. The EU will also investigate Meta's 'payment or consent model'.

The Commission has started an investigation into Apple's new fee structure for alternative app stores and Amazon's ranking practices in its marketplace.

Actually, the big tech companies (Apple, Google, and Meta) are accused by the European Union of abusing their dominance.

Regulators in the United States and Europe assert that these businesses create an environment that makes it difficult or impossible for clients to move to other businesses offering competing services.

It is because of these companies that small businesses are unable to advance. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) of the United States is looking into allegations made by the country's four largest tech companies: Amazon, Apple, Google, and Meta.
