The prices of electric vehicles in India will be at par with petrol cars soon. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari made this big announcement on Wednesday. Electric vehicles will be at par with petrol cars in prices within the next six months, he stated, and this will increase the adoption of EVs in India even more.

Nitin Gadkari was addressing the 32nd Convergence India and 10th Smart Cities India Expo. In this regard, he also announced that construction on the 212 km long Delhi-Dehradun Access-Controlled Expressway is being undertaken at a fast pace and it will be completed in three months. It will become even more convenient and fast to reach Dehradun from Delhi.

Gadkari said that the government is giving priority to reducing imports, bringing cost-effective solutions, and promoting pollution-free transport and indigenous production. He said that it is necessary to strengthen the infrastructure to make India the third-largest economy in the world.

Gadkari emphasized that the construction of good roads will reduce the cost of logistics in the country, which will boost industry and trade. He said that the government is working fast to promote public transport run by electric energy.

The government is working on better connectivity and sustainable infrastructure, giving priority to smart cities and smart transport.
