However, he will continue to play domestic cricket. This middle-order batsman of Pakistan has suddenly announced his retirement from international cricket through a social media post. Since his debut in 2018, Ali has played 21 ODIs and 58 T20 Internationals for Pakistan. The reason behind his sudden retirement is believed to be not being included in Pakistan's team for the Asia Cup 2025. It is being speculated that he has retired in anger for this reason.

Asif Ali wrote in a social media post that today, I announce my retirement from international cricket. Wearing the Pakistan jersey has been the greatest honor of my life and serving my country on the cricket field has been my proudest thing. Used primarily as a finisher and power-hitter, Asif Ali made his place in Pakistan's middle order with a strike rate of 133.87 in T20 Internationals and 121.65 in ODIs.

Asif's most memorable moment came against Afghanistan in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021, where he made a tremendous cameo that is still in the memories. When Pakistan needed 24 runs from 12 balls, Ali hit four sixes in Karim Janat's over and scored 25 runs from just 7 balls to win with one over to spare. This innings proved to be crucial in Pakistan's reaching the semi-finals.
