After the intervention of the Supreme Court, senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MLA K. Ponmudi will take oath as minister today. Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi will administer the oath to Ponmudi. It is being told that the swearing-in ceremony will take place at Raj Bhavan today afternoon.

The Supreme Court voiced grave concerns on Thursday regarding the actions of Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi in declining to reappoint Ponmudi as a minister in the state cabinet, one day prior to this. The Governor was ordered by the supreme court to decide within a day, stating that he was disobeying the ruling.

Although there was no official statement made on the subject right away, sources predicted that Ponmudi would take the oath of office this afternoon, on Friday.

The Governor, against the advice of Chief Minister MK Stalin, had turned down Ponmudi's request to be restored to the Cabinet. The apex court recently stayed Ponmudi's conviction and three-year sentence in the disproportionate assets case.
