Pixel Phone: Google is changing the battery for free, check if your phone is eligible for it
Pixel Phone: This software update is for the battery performance stability of older Pixel smartphones, although in some Pixel 4a phones this update may reduce battery capacity and affect charging performance. Google is also providing compensation for this to the affected users.

In 2020, Google launched the Pixel 4a smartphone, which received its last software update as Android 13. Now, Google has confirmed that a new update is being released for the Pixel 4a device this week. This software update is for the battery performance stability of older Pixel smartphones, although in some Pixel 4a phones, this update may reduce battery capacity and affect charging performance. Google is also providing compensation for this to the affected users.
According to Google's support page, under the Pixel 4a Battery Performance Program, Google will release an automatic software update of Android 13 on all Pixel 4a devices from January 8. Google says that in some models, this update may reduce the available battery capacity and affect charging performance.
"After the software update is downloaded, your device will automatically restart to apply it. In some devices (affected devices), this update includes new battery management features that improve battery stability, although this may cause the time between battery charges to decrease," Google said. Users of affected devices may also notice other changes such as a decrease in charging performance or changes to the battery level indicator.
This update will arrive on all Pixel 4a devices, but apparently, some of the devices might suffer from a drop in battery performance. Due to the drop in battery capacity, Google has announced that affected Pixel 4a users can claim a free battery replacement. If you don't opt for a free battery replacement, you get to choose a one-time payment of $50 (around Rs. 4,000) or credit $100 (about Rs. 8,000) on the latest Pixel phone from the online store of Google.
