'Pakistan laid down arms, called a meeting for ceasefire itself', Foreign Ministry said- 'No third party has any role'
Pakistan calls for ceasefire meeting: There has been a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, which was confirmed by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. Pakistan has been continuously firing since May 7. After talks between the DGMOs of both countries, an agreement was reached to stop attacks in the air, water and land.

India and Pakistan have had a ceasefire. India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has formally announced it. Pakistan has been firing consistently on India's borders since May 7. Today, on Saturday, at 3:35 pm, the DGMOs of both nations spoke. From 5 pm onwards, both nations agreed to cease all attacks in water, air, and land immediately.
Pakistan's claim is false:
- Foreign Ministry sources said that there is no pre or post-condition for the ceasefire. This call was made by Pakistan. The Indus Water Treaty will remain suspended. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said that Pakistan's claim of destroying airports in Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Bhuj, etc., is false.
- Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said that Pakistan's claims of destroying the Brahmos installation were false. Pakistan's claims of destroying our S-400 missile base are completely false. Many attempts were made by Pakistan to spread misinformation.
MEA sources said that the important thing is that the ceasefire did not happen through any negotiations or through the involvement of any third party, but after Pakistan found itself unable to bear further action.
As both nations agreed to stop firing and violence against each other, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar stated that India has been having a strong and uncompromising stand against terrorism in all its dimensions and manifestations. The same shall remain.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi then called a meeting of External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, CDS and chiefs of all three armies at his residence after the ceasefire had come into effect. The meeting is being viewed as highly significant.
