Education Reform Push: NCERT Creates New Committee for Curriculum & Materials
NCERT has reconstituted the 20-member high-level National Curriculum and Teaching Learning Materials Committee (NSTC) for textbooks.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has constituted a new 20-member National Curriculum and Teaching Learning Materials Committee (NSTC) for preparing the textbooks. This committee comprises famous personalities like Professor V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras; Raghuvendra Tanwar, President of Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR); and R. Venkat Rao, Former Vice Chancellor, National Law School of India University.
This was done by the NCERT following the criticism made by the Supreme Court regarding the mention of judicial corruption in the newly-released eighth standard social science textbook of NCERT. The content of the book was immediately removed by NCERT.
Recently, the court was informed about the formation of this committee, and the court also ordered for checking all previous textbooks of NCERT.
