A new app has been launched by Netflix targeting children aged eight years and below. Netflix Playground has been launched in an effort to give children something to entertain themselves with by playing games based on their favorite TV shows. From this, it is clear that Netflix has entered the gaming world. Netflix Playground comes bundled free with all Netflix packages and promises to be safe, without ads, and in-app purchases. It is currently available in some countries for iPhones and iPads and will soon be available globally.

Netflix Playground is a standalone app that can be accessed after logging in using your Netflix account. It contains a different set of games featuring popular cartoon characters such as Peppa Pig and Sesame Street. According to the company, all games are instantly playable and available offline.

It includes a variety of interactive activities, such as puzzles, memory games, coloring pages, and simple creative tasks. Players can access experiences like Playtime With Peppa Pig, Sesame Street mini-games featuring characters like Elmo and Cookie Monster, and Dr. Seuss-themed adventures.

Netflix says the platform is designed to bring together entertainment, learning, and creativity for young audiences.

John Derderian, Vice President of Animation Series and Kids & Family TV at Netflix, said the company wants to create a place where children can actively engage with content rather than simply watch it. He added that the goal is to create a "great place for discovery, learning, and play."

According to the streaming platform, this app is built alongside its existing parental control tools. These include separate profiles for children, maturity filters, title-level blocking, and viewing history tools. These tools allow parents to control what their children can watch or play on this dedicated gaming app.

Notably, Netflix first introduced mobile games in 2021, but with Playground, it has created a dedicated gaming app for children for the first time. This app is currently available in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Philippines, and New Zealand and will be launched worldwide on April 28th.
