OpenAI has introduced a new feature for its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT. With the help of this feature, users can search in their chat history, which will allow them to quickly find important information from old chats. This is a massive improvement over the existing workaround whereby users had to scroll through their chat history. The feature currently leads on ChatGPT's web portal and is being rolled out to subscribers who pay for the platform.

OpenAI's official account announced this new feature in a post on X (formerly Twitter). Users were waiting for a long time for the feature to search past chats, because the old chats are stored but finding them was a difficult task.

With the feature of searching chat history, users will now be able to view a new magnification icon in the ChatGPT Web side panel, located on the left-hand side of the window. They click on it, and a text field opens up, they can type special keywords to find or locate a past chat there. This text field will highlight the recent chats, so they can directly select them without typing anything.

Currently, this feature is being rolled out to ChatGPT Plus and Team users. OpenAI further added that Enterprise and Edu subscribers will get this feature within a week. However, the user with the free version needs to wait until next month to avail themselves of this feature.
