Fewer new investors are entering the equity market. This has been revealed by a recent report by the National Stock Exchange (NSE). According to this report, there has been a decrease of 11 percent in new investors. New investors totaling 1.32 million entered in November.

As per the report, the total number of stock market investors is 123 million. Prior to November, the stock market had experienced an increase for two consecutive months. As per the report released by NSE, there had been a fall in the number of stock market investors entering the stock market during 2025. This can be attributed to the turmoil prevailing within the global stock market, thus hampering the entry of new investors into the stock market.

In February 2020, there were 90 million investors in the stock market. Subsequently, this number reached 100 million in August 2024 and 110 million by January 2025. During this period, the number of investors increased dramatically, with approximately 10 million investors joining the market every 5-6 months. This number declined in 2025, and it took approximately 9 months to reach 120 million from 110 million.
