WhatsApp is now going to increase the reach of chatting. The firm has been developing a totally new and different feature with which you will now be able to send messages to even those who do not have WhatsApp installed or are not registered on it.

According to the report of WaBetaInfo, this new feature is currently being tested on Android beta version 2.25.22.13, and it is believed that it can be rolled out for beta users in the coming weeks.

This new feature has been titled "Guest Chats". With this, WhatsApp users will get the option to directly communicate with any non-user by sharing an invite link. The receiver won't need to download the app or sign up.

The recipient to whom the invite has been sent will be able to communicate using a secure interface, such as WhatsApp Web, by clicking on the link.

WhatsApp says that this chatting feature will also be equipped with end-to-end encryption. That is, no one other than the sender and receiver will be able to read the message. Apart from this, the entire guest chat experience will be controlled under WhatsApp's internal system, which will keep this feature reliable and fast.

What things have to be kept in mind?

  • However, there will be some limitations with the 'Guest Chat' feature:
  • Like guest users will not be able to share photos, videos or GIFs.
  • Voice and video messaging will not be available.
  • Calling option will also not be available.
  • This feature will be limited to one-on-one chat only, that is, group chat will not be supported.

Through this feature, WhatsApp probably wants to connect those people to its platform who have not wanted to install the app till now. This will act as a low-friction entry point, so that even non-users can experience WhatsApp's interface.

Although the company has not made any official announcement regarding its launch date, it is believed that this feature can be rolled out for beta users soon. After this, public users are also expected to get this feature.
