Smartphone Screen Protectors to Come Under BIS Norms From April 2027: New Safety Rules Explained
The Central Government has included smartphone screen protectors under BIS standards, which will curb substandard products and promote Indian manufacturing.
A big decision has been made by the Central Government in favor of smartphone users. This decision was made keeping in view the safety of smartphones and the benefits of the consumers.
Under this decision, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has placed the screen protectors of smartphones in the ambit of the Bureau of Indian Standards. This will result in curbing the sale of substandard screen protectors and will help in promoting Indian manufacturing industries.
Smartphone screen protectors have been added to the Electronics and Information Technology Goods Order 2021 under a government notification issued on September 21. Screen guards become the 66th product under this order. In addition to it, there have been other products like smartphones, laptops, chargers, LED TVs, and printers that have already been covered under BIS norms.
