Accident averted at Delhi airport, IndiGo plane crossed taxiway during landing; Runway blocked for 15 minutes

An IndiGo flight from Amritsar had crossed the taxiway (a path for aircraft at the airport that connects the runway to the apron, hangar, terminal and other facilities) after landing at the Delhi airport on Sunday morning.

One runway was closed for roughly fifteen minutes following this incident. At Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), the A320 aircraft, operating flight 6E 2221, missed the designated taxiway and ended up off the end of runway 28/10.

According to the source, certain flight operations were impacted by the incident, which resulted in the runway being blocked for roughly fifteen minutes. Additionally, it was disclosed that the aircraft was later transported from the end of the runway to the parking bay by an Indigo towing van.

We're waiting on IndiGo's response to the incident. The nation's largest airport, IGIA, accommodates about 1,400 flights every day. Four runways are in use.
