Maruti Suzuki has introduced its first all-electric car e Vitara in Italy. This is the first electric car company worldwide, launching in India in the year 2025. It was introduced at the Auto Expo 2023 as a pre-production concept eVX. It also made an appearance at the India Mobility Expo a year later. Its concept model had pop-out door handles and its design was quite futuristic, too. Meanwhile, the e Vitara can see a big change in terms of design about the future of Maruti cars from the company. The front fascia has been given an amazing look along with thick cladding at places, chunky wheel arches, and a thick rear bumper. LED DRLs in Y-shaped, front parking sensor and camera inside the cluster are fitted in the headlamp of the vehicle. It has 18-inch and 19-inch alloy wheels.
A charging port has been provided on its front side and extends over the wheel arch. Its front door handles are pull-type, while the rear door handles are allocated in the C-pillar. Now, talking about the rear side of the e-Vitara, a floating roofline effect has been given along with the roof spoiler and side cowl. The best design feature of its rear profile is the connected taillamps.
This new electric SUV features a far different dashboard compared to other Maruti vehicles. Screens provided in it are inlaid within the housing, below which there are vertical AC vents. It has been given a dual-tone black and tan brown theme. Maruti Suzuki hasn't released any list of its features, but there is indeed a new two-spoke steering wheel, digital instrument panel, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera, ADAS suite, electronic parking brake with auto hold function, ventilated front seats, and so on.
Coming to the powertrain, the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara underpins the new HEARTECT-e platform. It will come in two battery pack options, which are 49 kWh and 61 kWh units. Initially, only a 2WD configuration will be brought, later two drivetrains will be available. After that, all-wheel drives with 2WD and 4WD will be available to everyone. ALLGRIP-e 4WD system, too will be seen in it.
Regarding price, the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will hit the Indian market in 2025. Prices As far as its prices are concerned, the price for Maruti Suzuki's first electric car can lie anywhere between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. Within the Indian market, this competition will come up against Hyundai's Creta EV that was launched in 2025, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and BYD Atto 3. Simultaneously, it will compete with Mahindra's two electric cars XEV 9e and BE 6e to be launched in November 2024.
