Market closed in red; Sensex fell 375 points, Nifty also slipped
Market Closing Bell, Sensex-Nifty Closing Bell: Indian market closed with a decline on the fourth trading day of the week. The 30-share BSE Sensex closed 375.24 points lower at 82,259.24 points. At the same time, the NSE Nifty fell 100.60 points to 25,111.45 points.

Indian market closed in the red on Thursday. Benchmark stock indices Sensex and Nifty fell prior to the sell-off in IT shares and the result of US-India trade talks.
The 30-share BSE Sensex ended 375.24 points or 0.45 percent down at 82,259.24 points. During trading, it ended 415.21 points or 0.50 percent down at 82,219.27 points. Meanwhile, the 50-share NSE Nifty closed 100.60 points or 0.40 per cent lower at 25,111.45.
Among the Sensex companies, Tech Mahindra's stock fell nearly 3 per cent. Infosys, HCL Tech, Eternal, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Consultancy Services, and Axis Bank were also among the laggards. However, Tata Steel, Trent, Titan and Tata Motors were in profit.
June quarter results failed to please investors. IT services company Tech Mahindra has reported a year-on-year growth of nearly 34 per cent in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2025.
Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Ltd, said that Indian stock markets closed marginally lower as investors turned cautious amid weak first-quarter results, especially in the technology and banking sectors. Market participants remained on the sidelines as FIIs withdrew due to high valuations of large-cap stocks and uncertainty over the US-India trade deal. However, any positive developments could strengthen market sentiment.
In Asian markets, South Korea's Kospi, Japan's Nikkei 225 index and Shanghai's SSE Composite index ended in the positive zone, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng ended lower. European markets were trading with gains. US markets closed with gains on Wednesday.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude fell 0.06 per cent to $68.49 per barrel. According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 1,858.15 crore on Wednesday. On Wednesday, the Sensex closed 63.57 points or 0.08 per cent higher at 82,634.48. The Nifty closed 16.25 points or 0.06 per cent higher at 25,212.05.
