Kerala: After the attachment notice of the bank, the farmer took a big step, dead body was found hanging in the house; Police engaged in investigation

The body of a 73-year-old dairy farmer was found hanging at his residence in Kolakkad in the North Kerala district on Monday morning. The police suspect that the bank had sent him an attachment notice, due to which he may have taken such a step under pressure.

Albert, a long-time president of Kolakkad Diary Cooperative, had borrowed Rs 2 lakh from the Peravoor branch of Kerala Bank by mortgaging his property. In view of the default in repayment, the bank had recently sent him an attachment notice with the repayment deadline set for Tuesday.

Sources said Albert had sought financial assistance from Kudumbashree (an all-women network under the Kerala government) on Sunday, but her efforts were unsuccessful. He said short deadlines and financial pressures appear to have led him to take the extreme step.
