CBI arrested the big gang that had cheated crores by digitally arresting them. So far, four members of the gang have already been arrested. Other members of the gang are being sought by the CBI. This is why the identity of the arrested suspects is not been disclosed so far.

CBI has given this entire operation the name of 'Operation Chakra-V'. In the course of investigating a fraud of Rs 7.6 crore by digitally arresting a Jhunjhunu resident for three months, the gang's nationwide ring of operations was uncovered, said a senior CBI official.

The gang members extorted this amount in 42 installments by intimidating the victim by posing as officers of various agencies. At the request of the Rajasthan government, the CBI took over the investigation of the case registered in Jhunjhunu Cyber Police. At present, out of the four people arrested, two are from Mumbai and two are from Moradabad.

According to highly placed sources, during the investigation, evidence of similar digital arrests by the gang of many other people and fraud is being found. They have 25 thousand IP addresses and about 200 bank accounts. These are being investigated and it is being ascertained who all were called from these IP addresses and from which people's money was transferred to the bank accounts. There is a possibility of these people becoming victims of fraud by digital arrest.

According to the senior official, after taking over the case, the CBI conducted a thorough investigation involving extensive data analysis and profiling. Advanced investigation techniques were used to identify the culprits.

Based on the clues found during the investigation, extensive searches were conducted at twelve locations in Moradabad and Sambhal, Mumbai, Jaipur and Krishnanagar in Bengal, resulting in the arrest of four persons involved in this organised crime gang. During the searches, bank account details, debit cards, checkbooks, deposit slips and digital device evidence were recovered.
