The ICC announced Sunday that it was creating a dedicated task force to help displaced Afghan cricketers. In this unprecedented program, the ICC has partnered with the BCCI, England Cricket Board, and Cricket Australia to help these young cricketers both with cricket and personal growth.

On this venture, ICC Chairman Jay Shah stated that at the ICC, inclusivity and giving all cricketers an opportunity to progress, irrespective of their situation, is something to which we are deeply committed. Along with our esteemed partners, we are delighted to introduce this task force and aid fund, which is integrated with an extensive high-performance program, to help displaced Afghan woman cricketers to continue playing cricket.

After the Taliban rule in Afghanistan, it has become difficult for women to play cricket there. The Taliban government of Afghanistan has banned women from playing cricket. Due to this, many women of Afghanistan are playing cricket while living in other countries and now the ICC has decided to help such women cricketers.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been re-appointed as the chairman of the ICC Men's Cricket Committee. Ganguly's long-time national teammate VVS Laxman has also been re-elected as a member of the panel. Apart from Ganguly and Laxman, former Afghanistan player Hamid Hassan, West Indies great batsman Desmond Haynes, South Africa's Test and ODI captain Temba Bavuma, and former England batsman Jonathan Trott were appointed to the committee.

Meanwhile, former New Zealand off-spinner Katherine Campbell is the chairperson of the new ICC Women's Cricket Committee, while former Australian player Avril Fahey and Cricket South Africa's (CSA) Foletsi Moseki are the other members.
