The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has given 10 days extra time to telecom companies to implement message traceability. This rule which was to be implemented from December 1 will now come into effect from December 10. TRAI wants to know where the messages received by customers are coming from and who is sending them. They should get this information.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has given some days' relief to the telecom companies regarding the implementation of message traceability. This rule, which was to come into effect from December 1, will now be applicable from December 10. TRAI provided relief to the telecom companies and said that from December 11, spam calls and messages will have to be blocked at all costs. Now TRAI has given time till December 10 to the companies for OTP-based SMS verification.
TRAI is planning to implement message traceability so that the telecom platform is not used for activities like fraud and cybercrime. Earlier it was to be implemented from 1 December. The company has given 10 days to the companies to implement message traceability from 10 December. TRAI said that more than 27 thousand companies have registered in the communication chain. This process is going on rapidly. Telecom companies are alerting such telemarketers who have not registered yet.
TRAI has given ten days due to the lack of preparation of telecom companies. Earlier the message traceability rule was to be implemented from 1 December. TRAI says that such telemarketers or those sending commercial messages and calls will have to get registered. Without registration, they will not be able to send messages or make calls. Every day about 1.7 billion commercial messages are sent in India.
TRAI aims to reduce fraud from telecom platforms via message traceability. For this, it has asked telecom companies to block all such messages coming from banks, e-commerce, and other institutions, containing telemarketing or promotional content. Apart from this, it has asked the companies to prepare such a system so that the messages received by the customers can be traced easily.
Apart from that, it is stated that TRAI has also fixed a format for telemarketing and promotional messages so that the user can know it easily. After this is carried out, customers will easily find out from where they are getting the message. By doing so, the fraud happening via the telecom platform can be reduced.
