The Ahmedabad-London Air India plane crash not only extinguished hundreds of lives, but also caused an economic crisis among the family members. Insurance companies are now getting various kinds of claims against this accident. They are insurance claims for cancellation of hotel booking, loss of bag, cancellation of travel, accidental death, and Kisan Credit Card.

Senior ICICI Lombard official Priya Deshmukh said that the company has started the process of settling claims on a priority basis. She said that they are committed to providing all possible assistance to the families of the victims. In this accident that took place on June 12, the plane collided with the medical college hostel in Meghnanigar area of Ahmedabad due to a technical fault as soon as it took off. Only one of the 242 passengers survived this accident, while 19 people were also killed on the ground.

Bajaj Allianz General Insurance has received four claims related to personal accident and marine cargo insurance. Marine cargo insurance usually covers goods sent by road, rail, air, or sea. New India Assurance has confirmed the settlement of seven individual and five group insurance claims. These include a claim related to a policy covering 4000 people of the Mehsana district, which was settled in a week.

There was also a case in the insurance claims in which a claim of Rs 50,000 was made under the Kisan Credit Card. However, many insurance companies have refused to share the exact number and figures as many relatives have still not been able to submit formal documents.

Immediately after the accident, the insurance regulatory body IRDAI directed all insurance companies to settle claims immediately. They were asked to be exempt from formalities like FIR, post-mortem, so that the victims could get quick relief. Also, all companies have been asked to submit weekly reports.

Axis Max Life Insurance COO Manu Lavanya said that his company settled the insurance claim of a victim in just three hours under the 'Instaclaim' process. He said that this shows our sensitivity and promptness. Many families have not yet recovered from this grief and are slowly contacting the companies.
