Infosys: IT company Infosys has got a big relief in the GST case of Rs 32,403 crore. The company was accused of not paying IGST. All proceedings against the company have been stopped.

India's second-largest IT company, Infosys, has received a big relief in the GST case of Rs 32,403 crore. The Director General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has stopped the proceedings of the show cause notice against Infosys for the financial years 2018 to 2022. The company gave this information on Friday. The company said that the matter is closed.
Last year in July, officials of Goods and Services Tax (GST) issued the company with a notice of Rs 32,403 crore. The company was accused of not paying Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) on the services obtained from foreign branches under the reverse charge method. The reverse charge method of GST is a scheme under which tax is payable by the recipient of goods and/or services rather than by the supplier.
Responding to this notice, the company said that the services received from foreign branches do not fall under the category of import of services, and IGST is not applicable to them. The company said that in August 2024, DGGI had closed the proceedings of the pre-show cause notice for the financial year 2017-18. Now, in June 2025, the proceedings have been closed for the remaining years as well. On Friday, June 6, Infosys shares closed at Rs 1564.05 with a gain of 0.62 percent on BSE. The market capitalization of the company is Rs 6.94 lakh crore.
